Why format to FAT? Can it be formated to NTFS?

FAT has a file size up to 4GB...

"NTFS is supported by Raspbian and will work fine, but it's read-only by default. You can install the ntfs-3g driver which will allow you to write to NTFS. However, it's not well-supported by some other operating systems, like OS X. If you need full compatibility with every OS, use FAT32, otherwise NTFS is fine."
