Why hasn't there been a Maker Faire type event on the East coast?

Maker Faire is still new. This was only it's fourth year. They already have faires in the bay area, austin and Newcastle, UK. If i remember correctly, there were talks at Bay Area 09 that they're going to do an east coast and a south africa faire.
