Will i have any problems building this HOVERCRAFT MODEL at 1/2 of his scale( aka use half the measurements he uses)?

I really want to build a hovercraft model. Id design my own but i know id run into center of gravity issues. Id build this one www.model-hovercraft.com/2000tdx/2000tdx.html but it is too large for my likeing and storage. Would it work at 1/2 his measurements. I realize i would need to use a different size motor and prop for the duct. I would probably use the same size motor but half sized prop for propulsion because me gusta( i like) fast.

I built my own from scratch once, and trust me, IT WAS HARD! Scaling one down will probably be a lot easier. Like the ideanator said, as long as you get it jalf the weight as well as scale down everything, you should be fine. The problem would be finding the right motors.

Do they make balsa wood in different weights or would i have to use half as wide balsa wood? I'm worried that might be too fragile. Im sure id be able to find a appropriate motor. There is a hobby shop 3 streets from my house who is very friendly and im sure help me find the right size if he doesn't have it.
For mine I used basswood. It was much thinner then balsa, and twice as strong, yet still lightweight. Is yours going to be remote controll? If it is, then make sure that you get a VERY light battery. That was my problem. I used 2 nine volt batteries, and the were in the back corner and it sagged there and didnt lift. I was a beginner at electronics back then, so I tried to wire the thrust fan that was powering the hovercraft and the lift fan to the same batteries. The problem with that was when I stopped the thrust, the lift fan stopped too and i didn't want that. It was fun to make in the process, though. I actually just took it apart thee other day so I could build a car of something out of it. Some more advice for remote controlling it is don't buy a 80 dollar controller and receiver from the hobby shop. Find a 20 dollar rc car and take the servos, receiver, and controller from that. At the hobby shop, they'll tell you "Well, it may not be strong enough!" They just want you to buy theirs, while in the end, I know I could have used a scrap one. Hope I could help!

Scaling models down is usually pretty straight forward.  You might have to vary the prop or motor size once you get it built to get it to float right but that shouldn't be too hard to do once built.  Most motors can take several different pitches of props and you can vary the motor speed to vary the thrust greatly.
Well, you would have to scale EVERYTHING, including the weight, if you do that, you _should_ be fine
