No sew fabric project: Fabric decorated basket

Start with floral print cotton chintz fabric (its cotton that has sheen instead of being not shiny look to it). Neatly cut out a few printed flowers from your fabric for the center piece of your basket decoration. Cut out long strips of fabric to use as ribbon to adorn the basket handle with. Fold strips lengthwise 1/3 to hem the edges of the ribbon and use a product called Mod Podge to glue/seal the hem of the ribbon. (Go to http://www.plaidonline.com/apMP.asp for more information on the product Mod Podge). You will actually dip the ribbon into a small bowl of the Mod Podge (think of paper Mache’) after you fold / hem your ribbon and while it is still moist but starting to dry enough to handle the hemmed ribbon work on the cut outs of printed flowers. Dip the cutout printed flowers from your fabric into the bowl of Mod Podge and then apply them to the basket (like a sticker decoration) but make sure to work them into the cracks and crevices of the wicker basket with a damp sponge or paper towel. After getting your cut out flowers Mod Podged on the basket body it’s time to start working with the slightly damp hemmed ribbon.  Place it looping on the basket handle temporarily overnight with clothes pins. Use scrunched up newspaper balls to hold up the moist loops until the Mod Podge sets and the fabric becomes stiff. (Overnight). Then remove the newspaper balls, clothes pins. Hot glue where your stiff fabric ribbon was clothes pinned to the basket handle.

Supplies

Fabric (see above)
Scissors
Wicker basket with a handle (like an Easter basket)
Fabric stiffener Mod Podge
Clothes pins
Bowl
Old Newspapers to protect work area.
Hot glue gun
Old sponge

The basics of this no sew project is you are in essence doing paper Mache’ with printed fabric on a wicker basket. No sewing required!
Make a Great Kilt - there's no sewing at all if you get a big enough piece of fabric.

"T" tunic? (Fairly trivial sewing, as clothing goes.)

Make a rag rug like my Grandma used to make.
