Writing programs in BASIC ?

What do you save a text document as if you are writing a program in BASIC?

.  If you mean the BASIC code (as text), then try steveastrouk's *.bas. If that doesn't work, RTFM for your interpreter/compiler.
.  If you mean a text data file, I'd go with *.txt, but it doesn't really matter - you can use whatever you like. If you use *.txt you will be able to double-click on the file and it will open in Notepad (or whatever text editor is set as your default).

It doesn't matter if you save it as a text file as BASIC is an interpreted language so every time the programme is run it will re interprete the code from your text.

Most BASICS ise .BAS automatically but a .TXT (Text) file will be OK and you can cut and past the code back in if you need to.

BASIC is compilable too. It depends on your tools.
Depends on your compiler or interpreter. In GWbasic we used to save them as .BAS files
