choosing yarn.?

I bought a nice looking yarn, but it's really hard to knit with. It's 61%wool, 20% nylon and 19% acrylic. I changed the size om the "needles" from 7 to 8.5 but it is still hard to knit. Is there qualities of yarn you should stay away from as a befinner?

Yarn properties for "easy knitting" are highly subjective, as the same fiber might seem too slippery to one person and just right for another. You can keep increasing needle size if you find the yarn is too tight, or you can also try to knit more loosely. Acrylic yarns may be more slippery than the one you've got (and they are generally inexpensive). The only yarns I struggle with are ones with fringe and fuzz hanging off, making it hard to see the core fiber. You have learned a core technique of yarn shopping, which is to always feel the fiber and evaluate the yarn strand for your personal preferences! =D
