fire based welders are not problem. (they may use electricity to start the fire but probably very small amount) electrical welders source lots of current and make strong and changing electromagnetic fields. the fields are emitted from the welder itself and the cables connected to it. they are strong enough to be severe danger for one with electronic implants
I have also become the unwilling recipient of a Borg implant (Defibrillator),and my hobby just happens to be Fixing up old Hotrods. I was warned about the EMP (Electromagnetic pulse) which is given off by an Arc or Wirefeed welder. At this point i am kinda depressed, since this is going to put a big kink in my ability to work on the old sheet metal. I don't wish to trigger the thing by mistake and end up seizing myself. My question would be: Is there any way to shield oneself from the EMP ?
wearable faraday cage - like body armour in sword fights but it should be highly conductive to reduce the emp significantly enough. i dont know what strength of emp a welder gives and how much the implant is sensitive to the best you can do is switch to fire based welder
