What kind of battery are you charging? This will determine what you need to effectively charge the battery.

What supply are you using to provide power?

Ok back to my first question. What kind of battery are you trying to charge. Some batteries are very picky about how they are charged. Others only need a couple of extra volts running into them to charge.
