heavy gauge metal tubing shaping question

You know the "heavy" gauge metal tubing you see on swings and roundabouts in the public play parks?
What is that called and how would I bend and shape it without having to go to an expensive, specialist shop, please?

Pretty much I want to have a straight part about 3 metres followed by a curve of radius approx 1 metre and another 1m straight after the curve.

Thank you for reading me and your time to reply.

Define "Heavy" and "diameter" ?

You might be surprised how inexpensive bending actually is. I bet you can get that done for 25 quid.

....or you go to machine mart and buy one of these.....

I know someone who bent up a full car frame at the young age
of 16 years just using a hand tube bender like these.

I hope this helps you,

yes, all the answers have helped me enormously - I'm just amazed at the generosity and kindness of the stalwarts on here that help so much and so well. I have some time off this Friday, and so I'll nip along to a few shops and see what they have - it's a project that I know will be really appreciated at my home. As I say, I'll post my developments. Thanks again, iceng! (and thanks everybody).

I would enquire at a local steel stockist or engineering works as Steve says you may be surprised.

Other than that your going to have to heat it up to red hot - need something to bend it round - the rest is just brute force. Put something inside to stop the walls collapsing Sand or salt will do if you can plug the ends - beware the plugs blowing out if there is any moisture or by air expansion.

The engineering firm will bend on a 3 roller bender.

Look up Youtube and Tube bending there are a lot of videos showing it done.

I assume you are in England but in the US I would go to a shop that does automotive tailpipe replacement. They have the equipment to bend large tubing.
With the vehicles built today the exhaust pipe and mufflers are stainless steel so don't usually need replacement in the life of the vehicle so the repair shops are going out ofg business.

Oh yeah, and basically you'd "nibble" the bend with the machinemart tool - bend it a few cms,. move it along a bit, bend it a bit more etc etc
