Well it's a hard decision.

Either you give her some space to work out the break up and get back on her feet, but you'll risk the chance that someone else is going to aks her out in the meantime.

Or you risk becoming the rebound guy. Being that you're dating her but that she sees you as the guy she uses to feel better again and then date someone else when she's okay again

. Or you just ask her out and everything works out fine.

My suggestion would be to be there for her. Talk with her and comfort her and if the timing feels right ask her if she wants to do something. It's perhaps best to do the first one as friends and see where it goes you know? Just ask if she wants to do something sometime and see where it goes. If you don't feel the spark bounce back do nothing and try again. If it doesnt happen the second or third time it's perhaps best to tell her how you feel. You can also do this at the end of your first date. alot depends on the mood where your in. If you see that she is in no mood of you flirting it's best to stop. If she enjoys your company and comes closer to you then continue.

On the how can I ask her out. I would just suggest comforting her and asking if she wants to do something. And bring her something nice to cheer her up. A card or chocolate or stuff. This also depends on the girl. If you know she doesn't like gifts and stuff don't do it ;)

If something isn't clear just ask ;)

Give her the time she needs. It's not appropriate to purse a girl who just recently came from a breakup. Instead, make friends with her and console her. Don't tell her your feelings except when you're 100 percent sure she has already recovered from her past relationship.

You have a window of opportunity.  She was with someone, now she's not and soon she will be with someone again.

There is nothing wrong with being the rebound guy.  If the relationship doesn't last then it wouldn't have lasted anyway and maybe you got a chance to date a girl that was out of your league.

If it does last then it was supposed to be.

You can be there for her and date her at the same time.  Just let her know you are interested and ask her for a date.  If she says no the let her know that you still want to be friends and BE ONE.

Good luck.

You pick-up cues from people, if you've got an opportunity you'll see it.
But,     consider that after 10 years her relationship with you may be so well-defined that it's not changeable. Alternatively it may be "bloody-obviously"-right for a new direction, in which case you can say that to her (knowing that it is).

It may also come as a shock to her that the relationship you've had since you were 3 years old changes into something else.

Yes very true, you don't need the 10.

I just went through the same thing. Knew a chick, best friends for years, and really liked her. No offense, but here is what I did. I grew some balls, decided that even if she said no we could still be friends, and if she said yes, well, epic. That is what I did, no flashy show, no catchy phrase, just grew a pair. IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIII IIIII IIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIII IIIII IIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIII IIIIIIIII IIIIIIIIIIIII (Sorry for the bluntness.)

well, it all depends on the girl. if she is really sad and pissed about her break-up, all her up and offer your support, then follow through with your question after she has cooled down. if you know her very well, and everything is cool about it, ask her if she wants to come over and watch a movie or something. movies are very romantic. or you can just go straight ahead and ask her. it helps if you are in person. try to keep up "face time" with her, so she will know that you are there. Dont be overwhelming though. its hard to offer advice on these things though. just do your best.
