how do I get broken piece of plug out of an electrical outlet?

a plug for a portable radiator burnt out and part is stuck in the electrical outlet. The other portion of the outlet is occupied by the washing machine plug. Is there a simple, and safe way to remove this piece without calling an electrician?

REPLACE the receptacle, since you don't know what you are doing get a electrician , Do not remove broken parts from it. A receptacle costs a couple bucks the ground in the old one will not be reliable, after preforming surgery to remove old broken prongs.

DON"T STICK ANYTHING IN THAT OUTLET!!! Yet. First, kill the power to your house, or just the room that contains your outlet. Next, unscrew your outlet box from the wall and take it out. Try a piece of hanger wire to get it out. If you still can't remove the piece-don't worry. You can replace the outlet for maybe a buck or two. Unconnect the wires from the plugged outlet and reconnect them to your new outlet. Screw your new outlet into the wall and restore power. Problem solved.

i'd just pull it out with well isolated pliers open and check that the socket is ok inside before you plug anything else into it

I would replace the outlet (a dollar or so ) just to be safe. If the plug got hot enough to melt then parts inside the outlet may have melted too. As a contractor I have had to remodel whole rooms because of one faulty outlet.

Turning off the power at the circuit breaker, confirming it is off by trying to turn on the washing machine, and disassembling the outlet will probably solve your problem. If you can include a picture of the outlet, it would help.

Turn off the electricity and disassemble the outlet (just remove the face)

Unplug the washing machine and then plug in a light to the outlet. Go to your fuse box and find the fuse that controls that outlet. Turn the fuse off. The light should no longer work. Then use some pliers or tweezers to remove the fragment.
