Hi, I used Nitric acid to refine sterling silver. When I put the sterling into the acid it became silver nitrate. Then I used copper to get the silver to come out of solution and it became copper nitrate. what can I do to get the copper nitrate out so I can use the nitric acid again?

Let me first start off by saying this isn't my area of expertise, but I believe I may have found the answer you were looking for...

From this source at wikipedia, it indicates that "...copper nitrate can be used to generate nitric acid by heating it until decomposition and passing the fumes directly into water. This method is similar to the last step in the Ostwald process..."

I hope that helps. ;-)
