how to connect pc to tv?

Hi i brought this computer from a garage sale its a Dell dimenstion 2400. It has windows xp. Pretty good for $35.But the monitor that came with it is horibile. So i decided to connect it to my tv, well tryed. I was told S-video. My tv has that but not the computer. Then I was told V-G-A but my tv dosent have that. Then i tryed this plug that connects to the Pc througth V-G-A, then i add R.C.A cabels and connect it to the R.C.A ports on the tv. (Thats the red, yellow and white.) But it still dosent work. Can any one help me.

                                                                                Thank You.

thanks for your help *seandogue and tragicallyhip* i will look into a new graphics card or new computer lol thank you
As seandogue replied, an aftermarket solution is your only option.Your Dell only has integrated graphics built in( Intel extreme 3D graphics). In order to get the results you want you will need a dedicated video card installed. The real challenge for you is finding a video card at all, you machine is positively Jurassic, as it only has PCI support. I can honestly say it's been forever since I've seen a PCI card sold anywhere.
Nah, they're still available. Both retail and via Ebay and so forth. I just did a quick search and found them at tiger direct and BestBuy. I stopped looking after that but the page was full of hits.

Many after market video cards have dual outputs. Nvidia dual output cards have both a standard VGA output and a dual use, VGA, S-video output. I run a dual monitor computer system using a pair of older graphic monitors. My last video card, a low end NVidia card, cost me about $60 and has the dual outputs.
