As always, more information! How is it broken, what model, version, etc? Has it just frozen, or actually sustained physical damage?

I've worked with iPod mini's for some time and I know you can do similar things with other models but every part on the iPod is interchangeable. So, you can replace harddrives, mobos, screens, headphone jacks, touchpads, cases, with the same model (1st gen mini is NOT compatable with 2nd gen...) I've seen ones where people replaced the HDD with SSD's, I've seen moded laptop hdd's in ipod videos...
