how to make gas or smoke come out of a volcano for a school project. ?

I already have the vinegar and baking powder effect for the foaming.  No fire please since this is for a school project.

More baking powder or talcum powder, a tube coming up from underneath, blow gently into the tube to throw white powder into the air...?

If there wasn't the "no fire" constraint, I'd suggest an incense cone.
