.  As a general rule, you don't. The screens usually require special driver circuits which are most often soldered onto the laptop mobo. :(
.  But I'm no expert. Maybe someone has an answer you will like.
+1 not possible without an electronics engineering degree -- even if you know how, every one is different.

so why do I see all the laptop screens being used on an overhead projector without the laptop as a big screen projector?
if its a laptop screen, 99% of the time the original laptop is being used. All the ones I've seen have been using a re-purposed lcd monitor, not a laptop. Difference being the monitor is designed to take a video signal, the laptop needs direct driving from a signal converter which is not readily available and usually proprietary to a given laptop.

As NachoMahma said: You probably cant. It would be easier to use the whole laptop as a remote console, via VNC or Windows Remote or some tool of that sort.
