what is the composition? (molecular formula?)

My guess is you had a solution of silver nitrate (AgNO3) in a clear glass bottle, right? Light causes the silver nitrate to break down into metalic silver. In the future keep silver nitrate solution in the dark or in a brown glass bottle.

Silver compounds can be light sensitive, you will probably have some fine particles suspended in solution. This may be very fine particles of silver, the same dark stuff that makes classic black and white photographs.
Keep it in the dark, it may settle out over time.
