What is your definition of "plastics"?

Are they necessarily long-chain polymers ?
Plasticity is a material property, so there's a bit of scope in "plastics" (that's a no to the question).

You need to show how your formulation makes a substance that shares characteristics with petro-chemical products- eg- moldable, durable, etc.

Plastic is a very poor word that we use for these things- since plastic is actually a term describing a characteristic- more an adjective than a noun.

Do you see what I'm driving at?
You and I both - what does the word need to mean?

I think we need words which differentiate between materials that have subtle but significant variations.  Along the lines of the cliche'- "The Eskimos have 20 words for snow" - because if they only had one word they would not communicate as effectively.

(I'm afraid I may not be communicating very well here!)

We need the questioner to tell us what they have to prove.

.  As others have pointed out, "plastic" is a VERY broad term.
.  According to Wikipedia a plastic is: "... the general common term for a wide range of synthetic or semisynthetic organic amorphous solid[1] materials ..."
.  Also according to Wikipedia, an amorphous solid can be anything from glass to cotton candy.
