i just got a new zune and i went to download the program for it, but after i downloaded it from the zune website...

after i downloaded the file, i tried to install it...and when i did, an error messsage came up that said; "zunesetup.exe is not a valid win32 application" i have a brand new acer aspire one with windows 7 operating system. i also tried downloading it on another computer that had windows xp on it with the same error message appearing. this download ccame from THE zune website. seeing as i cannot put any music or anything else on my zune without this software, i need to know what is wrong and where (if there even is any place) i can download a good copy that will install on my computer. both the windows 7 and xp operating systems were on the list of qualified o.s.'s so i dont know what could be wrong...please help!!! ive had bad experiences like this before and i dont want to take it back to the store...ive heard zune is way easier to work with that ipod, so please prove my sources right if you can :-) thank you!!!

Depending on quality of your internet... you may have an incomplete download... check that the file you have is approximately what you expect (It looks like it should be around 120MB)... if you are finding that you are not able to download the complete installation file... you could try using a file downloader (I would recommend Free Download Manager)...

Of course you should be able to transfer music using media player (you don't need the Zune software)... see here...

Your Zune player should also appear as a removal drive under your explorer...

ok...i didnt know that...but ive tried connecting it already and it will charge when hooked up to my laptop but my laptop wont pick it up at all...well thats just peachy...lol...
So sorry that you are having problems... Have you simply tried to reset your Zune (this often resolves some weird issues) - Hold down the Back button and Up on the control pad until you see the Zune logo appear on the screen.

Another thing you could try is removing your Zune from your Device list... go to Devices & Printers and right click on your Zune and select Remove Device... re-plug your Zune to see if your computer detects it...

Of course applying any relevant windows updates may help... How did you get on with downloading the Zune software (was the install file approximately the right size?)???

well i spent all weekend trying different sources and looking at all my options for downloading it and nothing at all worked...but i tried one last link on sunday morning as a last resort and it turned out to be a program i downloaded TO download the zune software and start the install for me. turned out ok and everything's working fine now...i still havent tried the media-player way of adding stuff, but i dont think i will...the zune software is wayy easy to use, so...im happy with it...lol...
