i live in fl. i have fungus/mold on some trees . it's mostly green.(light ) . what is this? how do I get rid of it?

I call this tree greybeard, or grandfather beard. It flowers in the spring. Then it has long green leaves through summer

Sounds like lichen, but there are a wide variety of lichens, some of which grow on certain trees but not others. A picture would be helpful in identifying it!
