i live in fl. i have fungus/mold on some trees . it's mostly green.(light ) . what is this? how do I get rid of it?

I call this tree greybeard, or grandfather beard. It flowers in the spring. Then it has long green leaves through summer

Sounds like lichen, but there are a wide variety of lichens, some of which grow on certain trees but not others. A picture would be helpful in identifying it!

That is lichen.Deer like to eat it.
Do you mean a lichen? Lichens like Usnea are generally not harmful to mature trees. They can also be very difficult to eliminate without harming the tree. If you absolutely must get rid of a lichen, try a fungicide like copper sulfate.

If you mean Spanish moss, which is actually a flowering plant, copper sulfate may also work on that. But you could probably make a good profit selling that to gardening- and crafting-inclined Instructables makers.
