intervalometer for servo or solenoid operation? (timed button presser)

HI!

I would like to create timelapses with a dslr i own. My camera has no ports for a remote shutter timer unfortunately so i need an alternative.

I want to build a mechanical system to hit a shutter release every X seconds. ex: servo or solenoid.

it seems like this should be fairly straight forward using an arduino or even maybe just a potentiometer i just cant quite seem to fit the puzzle pieces together to make it work.

i am comfortable with soldering and am alright with arduino control so dont be afraid to get a little technical haha... just not toooo much...

Simple. Use an arduino and the servo library. Move the servo the distance needed to press the button, move it back to zero, then delay for the amount of time you want between clicks. Couldn't be any simpler than that.

awesome.
new to arduino, would it be possible to link a variable to the delay to have it be controlled by a potentiometer? (so i dont have to connect to a computer to change the interval)
Sure. Look at the Analog examples to get a good idea about getting a reading from the pot. Since it's analog you'll need to do your comparisons in a range. So if the pot reads greater than one number and less than another number you save X amount of time to your delay.

Great. thanks super helpful.
