No, I don't get that. How exactly are you commenting with a link (exactly)?

That's a topic of debate, but it's a little shady for sure.

In a swoopo auction, people pay to bid.  The winning final bid gets the item, but the non-winning bidders lose the bids they used.   It works great for swoopo, because ALL the bids go towards paying for the item.  It works great for whoever wins because they get the item for a low price.  It works terrible for those with bad luck, because they end up paying for everyone-else's wins.  It's been accused that swoopo is gambling but it might be in a grey area.  Still, there's a great deal of chance involved in whether or not your money will actually reward you with something.

It's an unusual auction model, and I've seen something like it used for charities before.  It works well for charity because it's kind of a fun game and nobody at a charity event expects to get anything in return for a donation.   This one appears to be for pure profit, and it's not really the best way to go about trying to buy stuff.

no, but every time you bid, they take $1
That's pretty steep just to bid.
