looking for electric bicycle construction plans

I want to build an electric assist bicycle (moped). . . I have most of the parts need (I think) DC Scooter motors, several spare bicycles, welder, 12v car battery, what else do I need and how do I wire it up? What kind of accelerator rheostat do I need? Is one 12V battery enough for 20 miles? should I make it a tricycle? Should I put a deraileur on the motor itself as well as on the rear wheel? how can I keep the pedals and add a motor? whew . . . . tried googleing but all i get are people selling junk i can neither afford or want. I want to "re-MAKE"!
