Hi!
Just wnated to know if anyone knew a motherboard wich has 7 or more pci slots( PCI, PCIe, and alll thyese kinda ports) , wich can host DDR3 ram, and is compatible with the Intel® Core™ i7-3960X Processor Extreme Edition.

Also, it has to be fully compatible with this case .
By fully compatible, i mean all the connections that have to be made from the case to the motherboard have to be pluged in.T

ps: I'm asking this because next year or so i want to make myself a gaming rig.

is there any difference between the PCIe x16 and the old pci ports?

Yes, the PCI-express sockets are a different colour and have a different pin-configuration. You use them for modern graphics cards.

7 PCI slots is a lot; what junk do you need to plug into it?

checked on the stuff i already saw and the sound card and the parallel port adapter both go in PCIe x1 ports!
no need for PCI...

It's not a good idea to buy things that you aren't going to use. Many more devices connect through ports other than PCI these days.

video card is kinda very useful to have when playing games and audio card is for the razer tiamat 7.1 headphones i plan on buying.
also the junk i talk about will not be too useless still.

Please realize that most modern motherboards have most ports integrated such as:
network
sound
video
usb
etc
etc

Now, with this said I understand that you may still want to add in an additional video card because the integrated video cards are sometimes poor quality.

However unless you want to do musical instrument recording with the sound card I think you would probably be Okay with the integrated sound card.

I also don't think you are going to need a network card in addition to the integrated one.

One last thought I would wait to pick out your hardware until you are ready to order and start building.

Also right now is a bad time to be building computers. This is because their was a recent flood in Thailand, and it wiped out most of the worlds hard dr5ive stocks. And more importantly it damaged the factories that make the hard drives.

From what I know since this flood hard drives have tippled in price. However the good news is that the situation is getting better and most experts think that the price will be back to reasonable levels in about six months.

for the sound card, i do not really have the choice if i want to be able to use the headset i will be buying with all the computer parts. It is the razer tiamat 7.1.
also hard drives isn't really a problem since i have some in other crappy computers that do not need them.
and i am just looking for stuff to buy to know:
1 the price range
2 the stuff i'll be buying if the price is ok.

Now is not the time to be selecting hardware for a build a year or more away. At the rate hardware evolves your picks could be obsolete, unavailable or incompatible with other hardware or standards.
The right time to make your selections is when you have all the necessary resources (money, time, skill, etc.) to begin the build right away.
