Bad luck. These things happen. At least you know what happened to him. Not much comfort I realize.
Don't worry today my parakeet did the same but at least I'm stuck with the same one. You should give your parakeet tons of attention because they can get so stressed about a lost friend that they die!!!
You seem to know alot about parakeets how about joining my group
ok this maybe a bit late but it works with birds in my garden. A person on instructables made a hamster trap but if you make it so there is no holes for anything to get out. Bait the trap with the birds favourite food and it may just come to eat it.
Run to the petstore, buy one with identical coloring. Put it back in the cage before anyone notices. I've done it and it works!

You have to go looking, I doubt it flew into my locality.

Transatlantic parakeets... Awww they wike youuu!
Did they escape the house? If that's the case, I'm afraid you have to go out looking and you simply might not find them. If you have one, you might consider using a fine-mesh net to help catch them. A bedsheet might work in a pinch. Either way, you don't likely have time to practice. Someone should stay home with the door or window open. If the bird tries to return to their nest, they'll come right back inside. If they're still in the house, close windows and doors until you manage to catch them.
