With digital cameras the shutter button is really a push to make switch so it may be that the contacts are dirty - Have you got the camera wet or had it in an atmosphere that may encourage corrosion?
I would suggest this is too difficult for you to easily correct - AT YOUR OWN RISK you could try squirting some switch cleaner down the side of the button - Avoid WD40.
