Wireless power is doable as long as your device is only a few centimeters from the power source. I think what you want is to run them off batteries. It runs off 12V DC. So all you need is a 12V battery with the ability to supply the 36W the strip need for a reasonable time. So chances are the batteries will be fairly heavy.

Can you recommend a battery?

Any 12V battery or combination of batteries to give you 12V will work. The question is how long it will last. You could use 8x AA, AAA, C or D batteries but they won't last vary long having to supply 3A to the lights. If you can find a sutable lithium-ion battery that may be your best bet.
