problem with Arduino ): i don't want to use it ???

i want anyone help me in my project
first i want explain the idea of my project :-)
this project
will show you how to build a quite fancy 8 by 10 L.E.D matrix(with scrolling text and animations)
using the Arduino and 4017 decade counter. T

Probably yes. You'll need to know how much current/voltage parallel can source or sink. I'm sure it is in the range of arduino, but may be +-12V. Check!

Serial is another option. Again, it'll probably be RS232 at +-12V. You can get RS232 to TTL converters though, and a serial to parallel chip. That'll let you control your LEDs via a serial port.

Your formatting is all messed up on this question. I can't read half of it, so I hope I have guessed right.

i liked it but the problem is my teacher doesn't want me to work with Arduino . she said try to find like this project " Matrix LED" but by using
parallel port + db25 + microprocessor
