receipe for jalapeno poppers?

  • 12 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 (8 ounce) package shredded Cheddar cheese or Pepper-Jack (better)
  • 1- 2 tablespoon bacon bits (If using real bacon cook first)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Cayenne Pepper (optional)
  • 12 ounces jalapeno peppers, seeded and halved
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup dry bread crumbs (or seasoned)
  • 2 quarts oil for frying
Wear gloves when working with jalapeno peppers

DIRECTIONS

Can also Blanch peppers for 2 -3 then let cool before stuffing

1. In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, cheese and bacon bits. Spoon this mixture into the jalapeno pepper halves.
2. Put the milk and flour into two separate small bowls. Dip the stuffed jalapenos first into the milk then into the flour, making sure they are well coated with each. Allow the coated jalapenos to dry for about 10 minutes.
3. Dip the jalapenos in milk again and roll them through the breadcrumbs. Allow them to dry, then repeat to ensure the entire surface of the jalapeno is coated.
4. In a medium skillet, heat the oil to 365 degrees F ( 180 degrees C). Deep fry the coated jalapenos 2 to 3 minutes each, until golden brown. Remove and let drain on a paper towel.

I just made these on Saturday and they're delicious! Easy, too, since they don't require frying. You can see my comment on the project for the slight modifications I made.

Jalapeno Poppers
Although I have never made them, it seems fairly simple. Ingredients: Jalapeno Peppers Cream Cheese Beer, egg and/or Buttermilk Flour Breadcrumbs Salt Black Pepper Oil Step 1. Cut the tops off the peppers. Step 2. Fill with cream cheese. Step 3. Mix beer, egg, buttermilk, flour, bread crumbs, salt and pepper into a batter. The resulting goop should coat a clean spoon. Step 4. Heat a lot of oil. Check for temperature by dropping a little batter in the pan. It should sizzle. Step 5. Dip the stuffed peppers in the batter and gently drop them in the hot oil. Step 6. Fry until the entire surface is golden brown, this may require some rotating depending on how much oil you use. Step 7. Enjoy. P.S. You can fry just about anything by following steps 3-6
