server problem(update)

so i actually got the video to show up by using an old tube screen, and went trough the boot but in the end it still doesn't work, because there is actually no O.S. .
problem is it  won't load the stupid disk that has the operating system OR the floppy!
WHY?



Ho and while i'm at it do you know how to update questions you previously asked?
<update>thanks for all the help guys! too bad the linux page is down i wont be able to try out linux on my server but i guess they will put it back online pretty soon:) (for those hwo don't know they got hacked and had to bring down the whole server to see if anything had gone wrong because of that, and so it's been about one week they brought it down:( )</update>

The BIOS are probably locked in to boot from a hard drive only. You need to edit the BIOS and allow for other boot devices. You can specify to try the CD drive first. Boot order depends on what you going to do with it.

While you're at it, when you view one of your questions you should see an Author Options box in the right hand side bar. One of the buttons should say Delete, the other Edit. Inferring the purpose of each button is left as an exercise.

i almost got it to boot from a windows xp cd today but after doing all the heking for installing itself it gave me the blue sreen of death and it did it every time i tryed so i am going to try and put linux on a cd and try to boot it on linux wensday

In my experience a BSOD during the initial setup has been caused by bad ram. If it has more than one stick of ram, pull one and try set up again. If it blue screens again switch to the other and try again.
It is possible also that the processor is a 64 bit proc and your trying to put a 32 bit OS on it. Some of the early 64 bit processors could not run any other software except for 64 bit software, this was especially true of Intel processors. It was AMD that rocketed past Intel by developing the Athlon 64 which could run any OS.

might be but it could also be the fact that the proccessors are xeon and there are two of them... anyway the linux website is down so it won't be wensday that ill try to put on linux :(
