veg oil as diesel fuel?
With th' price of diesel fixin' to skyrocket in th' forseeable future , what would need to be done in order to use cookin' oil (brand new , straight from th' supermarket) in my cars tank ?
I don't think it makes a difference , but I need to be sure I wont damage th' injectors or fuej pump or anything else by dumpin' a few bottles of rape seed oil in and runnin' it !!

"Straight veg oil" - SVO needs a separate, heated tank, and some way of switching from dino-diesel to it, once its warm. You need to bring the engine UP to temperature before you run SVO, and, when you are about to stop, you need to go BACK to dino to "cool off".
Heating needs to be supplied to the fuel lines too. I have a link to the bits somewhere.....
Don't do it with a Lucas injector pump.
You can run up to 50% SVO in dino in the summer, but (given where you are) only about 20% in the winter.

When we had our first diesel (an 81 rabbit) it said in the book, if need be we could got to the groc. store and buy a gal, of peanut oil.
Is this still true? they were specific on peanut oil. We know of someone in the UK that regularly goes to store and buys oil for his car.

And fer th' record , it was my understandin' that th' £150 road tax I have to cough up annually is supposedly for th' road maintenance you speak of ! A search for "biodiesel modifications" on Google gives numerous useful results. I guess you didn't bother to do that before posting?
