what can i do to fix my ipod?

I have a 32 gig ipod touch, and today the touch screen stopped working. all the other buttons work fine, like the violume, home, and power buttons, but the touch screen is completely unresponsive. the problem is, I can't even turn it on, because I need to slide to unlock, and it wont let me do that. I tryed synching it with my computer, but that didn't work. I have no idea what else I can do. Can anyone suggest anything? thanks,

As long as it's not a first generation you can change the screen at home. If it's just the outer glass part you can do it for less than 20 bucks. I broke mine so many times I used to be able to do it on my coffee break at work and still have time for a trip to the coffee pot.

if the suggestions from apple don't work for you I would look into fixing it. Make sure you buy the plastic bezel that goes under it too. For some reason they are sold separately. You don't have to have it but it makes things about 1000 times easier.

Many sellers on ebay also supply a link to video instructions. If you aren't handy with small tools and small parts it might be easier to pay someone to do it. I found I can replace three screens for the same price as having someone do one for me.

I am glad you asked me that. I took a guess and searched for second gen on Amazon. You can get the glass, bezel and home button pre- assembled as well as the tape, a printed guide and the case tool for around 15 bucks. If you know someone with a prime membership you can get it with free 2 day shipping as well. That's less than I have been paying for years.

I would still find a couple of instruction videos on youtube, this is not the easiest fix if you haven't done it. Just take your time, follow the directions and video and you'll be fine. You'll probably get mad and toss out the little tool that comes with it so be really, really careful if you use something sharp like a jewelers driver.

Here's a link to Apple with information on what you should do. If the suggestions don't fix the problem, they suggest you schedule a service appointment.
