So far the most promising supercap for a battery is the lithium ion cap...
It is safer than a lithium ion battery on thermo runaway,more power density than the than lithium ion battery,and and can last 20 years in electric car service instead of 2 years like the lithium ion battery.
The hybrid stuff is old school ohms law and surge control..IE you a motor and/or
a magnetic inductance furnace at a steel mill.(both will surge up to 10 times normal working current on startup)So either the light company or electrician installs cap in parallel making volt fixed current floating between the load and the capacitor.
That is also the reason you see them at substations distribution points for power companies.So that instead of the browning out the cap surges ahead to hold that voltage.
Many folks that work with old school capacitors with not understand chemical supercaps energy density among other things.
