what is difference between activated carbon and activated charcoal.?

. Activated carbon is usually of higher quality than activated charcoal, but the words are often used interchangably. For most DIY purposes, they are essentially the same.

thanks a lot .i was thinking of making a cheap filter for my home.
. If you are building a drinking water filter, I would recommend spending the extra for high-quality activated carbon. Activated charcoal still has some organics that haven't been cooked off and will not have as much surface area of act. carbon. Not a big deal for a lot of applications, but act. charcoal may not give the results you want when filtering drinking water.
