ikea is a store that sells home and living items. the products thy sell often come with instructions especially furniture pieces and people sometimes put things together differently to make their products look or perform differently. It is a Swedish word meaning "origami with chipboard". By a weird coincidence, it is also the old Viking word for "mental torture".
Swedish (as am I) flat-box furniture store. Most of their stuff is particle board snap or screw together stuff. It's highly hackable if you mean modifying it to fit needs, most of it will cut/drill very easily if one part or another needs to be moved or added to. Hard to give specifics because it all depends on the situation.

www.ikea.com gigantic store out of...sweden. Started as a smallish business where the guy made simple furniture. Now its huge. mega huge.
