oh, and for steampunk art it usually looks like something out of the victorian era.

Steampunk Art: usually a sculpture or somethng 3d, but could also be a drawing. It looks clunky and (usually, but not always) mechanical.

Steampunk Book Genre: Takes place in the 1800's or the victorian era, where steampower and clockwork basically was all they had for technology
Takes place in a future in which electricity was never found out, so everything is still advanced, but run by steam and/or spring powered clockwork(Similar to wind up toys, but alot for advanced).

Steampunk Comic Books/Graphic novels: The drawing in them are clunky and mechanical, and it either takes place in the victorian era or in a future where everything is run by steam and/or spring powered clockwork.

Steampunk Movies/TV Shows: Again, it usually looks clunky and mechanical, and either takes place in the victorian era or in a future where everything is run by steam and/or spring powered clockwork.
Steampunk is essentially the blending of Victorian style aesthetics and modern technology, with the use of brass, leather, copper and gears (clock gears are widely used). Here is the Wikipedia article for Steampunk and here are some Google Images results for Steampunk.
I wouldn't so much as say art. A lot of it is very aesthetic, certainly the parts people know well, but a lot of people take it further. They take on mannerisms and other things. Its kind of an expression. Its like the old sci-fi horror movies with the mad scientist that has the vacuum tubes and Jacob ladders and all sorts of nonsense as he fires the over sized death ray. Its technology, conceived in the basis of the victorian era and industrial revolution, but is often really advanced and futuristic.

If you wanna be technical its an offshoot of dystopia cyberpunk. However instead of being in a reconstructive apocalyptic dystopia world, its set in a prodigal eutopia past. Airships have overtaken heavier than air craft, brass bits and gears and cogs and all sorts of nonsense are popular. etc etc

Steampunk is a form of art based on Victorian era materials such as copper, leather, and steam power used in modern and fantastical ways. For some reason, Airships and goggles are steampunk associated.

"The term denotes works set in an era or world where steam power is still widely used — usually the 19th century, and often Victorian era England — but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy, such as fictional technological inventions like those found in the works of H. G. Wells and Jules Verne, or real technological developments like the computer occurring at an earlier date." ~Wikipedia
Steampunk is an art form that draws it's style and form from the  Victorian era of the 19th century and  places a heavy emphasis on the use of brass and other materials associated with that time.

You might consider reading about it first, then asking more specific questions.  You could even try looking at the nice list of Related Instructables on this very page.
