what kind of materials are used for building a chasis?

the chasis of my robots are nothing but popsicle sticks connected by hot glue but it does nothing but jam the mechanical parts and short circuit the electronics tell me what can be used as a robot chasis and how to connect it together

People use wood, aluminum, steel, plastics, and whatever folks have in front of them. Screws, nails, bolts, glues, etc are used to fasten most of these things. Popsicle sticks and hot glue can work fine for smaller projects, but to be honest a sheet of thin plywood isn't very expensive. Anyway, it sounds like you're having a design problem and not as much of a materials problem. Maybe if you tell us more about the design of your robots and show us where the glue and popsicle sticks are getting in the way we can help you.
If you don't have access to tools then you might try cardboard. You can cut it to any size and shape you want. If you score it one one side you can make bends and flaps. You can use hot glue to stick the pieces together. May not be the best material but it may work out better than your popsicle sticks.
