first i pencil-sharpen it (electrical not manual, manual sharpeners just aren't the right design, the blades may break) then i place it in a drill and spin it while grinding the head on a crank grindstone to get the pointy tip, it is very sharp and dangerous, have fun!

me I use a sharpener to start because if you just use the sharpener you will make it blunt then I carve away with a knife to make it sharp and when the rod gets blunt I re sharpen it with knife but be careful

i sharpen the knex rods in several ways. 1. use a pencil sharpener, the electric kind work better 2. use a filer for nails to erode the edges 3. use sandpaper 4 use an exacto-knife 5. very dangerous, (not reccomended) use an actual knife. hope this helps :) - Ksp

pencil sharpener is better than using a knife, the point is sharper, and its safer.

There are several different ways. I use a pencil sharpener but I have a few that are done on a grinder (they turn out like gorkems). I have also used a sharp knife and a file. I wouldn't use the knife because they are not as safe and the pencil sharpener worked better. So in the end I would use a grinder, file, or pencil sharpener. Hope this helps. K~SC

Pencil sharpener or Utility knife.

Use a sharp knife, like you were sharpening a pencil. It's a bit of a skill, but it's not that hard to learn. L
