why @echo off AND echo???

if @echo off makes it so CMD doesn't display the command, whats the point if you put "echo" on another line??? And does @echo off effect all the lines unless the have echo on them??

. @ inhibits output of the code for that line (think of it as a temporary echo off), so, in this case, it just keeps the echo off cmd from displaying.
. Echo off turns off displaying lines of code (cmd output will still be displayed) until the end of the script or an echo on cmd is issued.
. Supposedly, echo off can be overridden using a caret, but I've never used it.
