Arduino Jam Belgium

Come to the first Arduino Jam @ Timelab Ghent Belgium.

From 3 february to 5 february you can join to jam with your arduino. With a maximum of 30 makers, we are going to make a few crazy projects. We don't know yet, what kind of crazy stuff you can come up with. 
48hours of sleepless Arduino fun. 
The Timelab is a fully equipped fablab with 3D printers, lasercutters and much more of tools you don't have at home. So subscribe here and join our quest for the most crazy arduino project of 2012.

All the projects will be documented on instructables and the winner will go home with lots of arduino shields.

For all the people who have difficulties to be there at Friday, we also do a startup at Saturday. It will be limited to 6 people.

Damned why don't I know a lick of arduino?! This would be perfect! A place in Belgium which is the closet thing to a living hacker space I found...

Arduino is easy to learn, its been 4 days since I got mine and I'm already making things like this thing that shows a value on an led display based on how much you turn a potentiometer, I'm trying to find out what it could be used for instead of a pot, maybe a really cool sensor of sorts.

Well, I saw the arduino at radioshack and since it was there and I didn't want to buy online, I just couldn't say no to buying it. But since I knew nothing about it, I also saw a book at radioshack and bought that, it's been real useful.

Hi Michel,

What exactly do you mean by your last sentence? Have you not been able to find the Belgian hackerspaces or are they not alive in your opinion?

Can't really find any near my location. I live half of the time in Leuven half of the time in Bilzen (Limburg).

I know of one in Brussels but other then that not really no... Any help would be appreciated :) I'm going to the introduction class tomorrow in Gent though :)

Leuven has a fablab, sadly only for KUL studends. http://fablab-leuven.be/
Limburg is way behind with the hackerspaces and fablabs.

We besides hackerspace Brussels there are also good Hackerspaces in Ghent (Whitespace http://0x20.be) and Antwerp (http://we.voidwarranties.be)

I have it from a very reliable source that there is now also a FabLab in Genk. I have however never been there and I haven't found it's online presence yet either. So it's probably also closed to students from some school out there.

To everyone in Belgium...if this contest gets a lot of interest, might not be a bad idea to speak with the sponsors about a more permanent arrangement for a lab like this. Hacker space all year round!

The arduino Jam is not connected to any fablab or hackerspace.
We got the idea when we attended the global game Jam in Antwerp in 2011 and won the local competition with a arduino project. (http://www.instructables.com/id/ElectroFried-electronic-shock-game/)
It then came cleare to me that you can build something cool within 48hours.
This will be the testcase for more jams in the future. And like you said, when there will be intrest we can try to expand.
But first we need to Jam.

There's actually something like this in Ghent already, called "whitespace" (http://0x20.be). It's a hackerspace community.
I don't think it's sponsored though.

I was at the introduction class yesterday at timelab Gent and I can surely advice it! immediatly became a member so they can expect to see me back :) Really great people and I look forward to make my projects there and sharing them on instructables :)

I'm so sad :-( I can't make it...I have school! Oh well.

Could you host another one this summer? I am going to Europe then and would be able to attend because a short stop couldn't hurt my schedule too much...
