Arduino Moon Phrase

Hello I am a 12 year old boy and recently got interested in Arduino.
For Science fair I want to make a simple moon phrase displayer using leds, however, I could not find any projects simple enough for just a beginner. Also I only know the basic of coding giving me a hard time trying to understand complex codes.
I would appreciate if there is a simple way to make the moon phrase displayer.

Thanks in advance.

That looks OK. You'll need to group the LEDs into 3s or 4s to drive them from a nice low voltage.

You need to look for moon PHASE, not "PHrase".

The next thing to research is the "Synodic period" of the moon's orbit, which will allow you to work out the details of how your clock needs to work.

A nice project, which I have just completed for a client. Mine has 8 phases displayed....on a giant water fountain.....

The maths can be hard or very simple depending on your demands for precision.

The book "Getting Started with Arduino" is an excellent introduction. It takes you through the basics of wiring several different things (like LEDs) to the Arduino and then showing you how to program it to control them.

Last I looked RadioShack carries the book for about $15, or you can order the eBook directly from the publisher for $10: http://shop.oreilly.com/product/0636920021414.do

It's a cool idea for a project -- once you get some ideas for the design down feel free to ask us more specific questions.
