Back to the Future Part II Nike Shoes

Sup, everyone! So the idea I had was the nike shoes in back to the future part II. I got to thinking that it would be really cool if i could make a pair, so i looked around and found that nike had already made a pair back in 2011, it looked to me like they used reinforced foam. So then the next thought i had was get on instructables and get some ideas from you guys. The basic idea I have is to modole them out of strong foam, i'll probably make a cardboard mockup first, then line it with fome and material. after that I'll probably get some really stiff foam then make the outside out of that an probably make the sole out of rubber. Please share your ideas, thanks in advance

well wait for 2015. Nike announced they are making the self tying version of their 2011 release. Perfect timing since the future part of the movie took place in 2015.
Now if they would just get on with making the hoverboard that would be nice.

A pair of Nikes is a pair of Nikes. Just mod an old pair to have the self tying laces. There are some projects out there to make motorized versions controlled by an arduino.

I'm actually trying to replicate the version in the movie, Back to the Future Part II, their a more futuristic type of Nikes, in fact there only made by nike, they actually resemble a pair of Duncks. To tell you the truth that thought had crossed my mind about modding an old pair of shoes to look like them. BTW their actually very rare, nike only released 1,500 pairs in 2011, only they go, so i've heard, for around $15,000. So they really aren't just another pair of shoes. Again thanks for your input, and I'll probably look up a few of those tutorials for some ore ideas. Thanks!

The Nikies where not made of foam. They used good quality leather.

Leather eh, well I was kinda thinking maybe something more like spandex. You know something really stretchy. I apologize for the confusion I don't intend to use foam for the entire shoe. Thank you for your input, please if you have anymore thoughts feel free to share them.

Nothing about the shoe is remotely stretchy. It's just a rather large high top shoe with slightly over sized soles with lights in them. The only thing that makes it really futuristic is it doesn't have laces. It uses a system of straps that automatically cinch tight when you put them on.

The large soles can be used to hide small actuators that can pull the straps tight. There is a larger plastic looking section at the top of the shoe in the back where another actuator may be hidden to pull the top strap tight.

I'm afraid I have to disagree with you. Actually they were quite futuristic for there time, and still are. the self lacing part was just an added touch to make them look even more futuristic. And my dear sir/madame if you were to watch the scene again you would see that they are quite stretchy. But that was quite a good idea about the self lacing part. I didn't know if i would be able to do that part, again thanks fr your input
