Bringing Steampunk and El Wire Together

I recently took a class on El Wire and got a hold of some to play with, so I pretty much know what I'm doing with it. It seems, though that the creative juices have stopped flowing and I can't seem to come up with a way to combine it with anything steampunk. I just figured I'd throw it out there and maybe start up a discussion. Thoughts / ideas?

I don't think neon colors are part of the "steampunk" palette. Dame Martha Stewart would have her petticoat in a ruffle to have flourescent green and blue clash with the more demure sepia and grey tones.

What you can do is to have amber plastic as filters in front of any el wire. If you have the reds and the yellows, they can be the filaments of some tube or edison lamp. Good luck.

Haha, yes. I did not intend to use the neon colors in steampunk work. I do have red, though. Thanks for your input.
If you fix light blue in an erratic pattern it can be used to simulate electricity/lightening, very much in keeping with the tesla themes.
