Help! CLAI - Clay Animation Video Game

So I made a trailer for a new video game I'm working on called CLAI. But taking each picture and individually editing the blue out is going to be hard. I was wondering if anyone has any tips on how to make the filming of the sprites easier? Is there some nice software I can use? In any case, enjoy the video:

Get even lighting, a few lights in a lightbox does pretty well and high res shots are essential for good removal of background, I'd suggest switching to green, really violently fluorescent green for the background, it's easier to pick off, also playing with modes on the camera can help, things like F chrome by fuji or equivalents can bring out other colours more...

I've done the odd claymation but a claymation game sounds really hard, getting basic movements and the object in to the game shouldn't be too hard but there are thousands of transitions and such, unless it's a side scroller or some such..

The Neverhood still ranks among my favorite games. What genre of game is CLAI going to be?

There's a couple of instructables on using free software for Chroma Key effects.

. I just glanced through a few pages, but I got the impression that if you use the proper shade of blue, there is software that will handle the editing for you.
