Calling everyone with small engines experiance! (Video update)

Ok I decided to rip into my tractor today because I was bored. I knew if I ripped into the actual cylinder that it would probably look pretty horrible with the way I drive my tractor. Needless to say I was right...

I want someone to tell me what I can do with this!! I have it sitting open like it is in the pictures right now and I don't wanna put it back together until someone looks at it!. Also, how do I check that the valves are working right?

Can someone PLEASE look at this asap?? Also does anyone know what I could clean the cylinder top and the cover with?? Would varsol paint thinner be a bad idea because of the gasket??

if its sputtering more than likely its the carb try messing with the screws and throttle control a little. It may just need a little tuning.  Or if you've done repairs to it in the past you may not have placed the cam and/or timing gears back in the case properly

I say just put it back together. If there wasn't anything wrong with it leave it alone. Varsol should be OK if you don't let it penetrate anything, if it runs fine your valves must be OK.

This is a fuel problem I think - it's the carb' that needs attention.

.  Yep. Sounds like a fuel/carb problem to me, too.

Not much on this side of things, done the odd thing like swap gasket plates but that's desperately simple... Is the black all soot or is it other stuff? Also is the cylinder shiny on the walls or is it black as well?

Is the carburettor in decent shape? If not that could be causing the soot, especially if it's running really rich or the chokes not turning off...

.  Other than some scratches on the cylinder wall (which you probably don't have the tools to fix), I don't see anything wrong. Get a new head gasket and put it back together. Other than cleaning the old gasket off the cylinder and head, don't clean anything inside the head - you will only make things worse.
