Instructables

Can someone post an instructable for a sheet metal brake made of wood?

Many sheet metal brakes were made of wood. I would like to know if someone knows how to make one.

That's what I love about Instructables. People post a lot of pictures. Although your suggestion is a great approach, I need to figure out what it is in the text. Thank you.
There are instructions in that link. But maybe it is more than what you were looking for?

Can you get a "crisp" corner with a wooden one?

I remember that a friend built a makeshift sheet metal brake out of two pieces of two by four. We used to install aluminum flashing around windows. I am interested in building one for a workshop.
I see. I remember the one from High School Shop class (an extinct class now in many schools) so to make up for the weight involved, one would have to substitute "leverage" I suppose?

The trick would be to use a good close grained hardwood or engineer the cross pieces into I or T beams. A long piano hinge should be used. You might want to use metal plates as the wear and bearing surfaces where the bend is made. Various ways to clamp the sheet metal and leverage the bending bar.

I like that approach!
