DIY From start to Finish Step-by-Step Velomobile?

Hello all!

Just joined after hearing great things about i*.com.

For a long time I wondered: Can I build my very own velomobile on a cheap?
I think this is possible, but how, a bigger question....

I did some research and an average DIY pack costs around €2500, way to expensive for me..

So my question:

Is it possible to build an velomobile for 250€ or less?

Thanks

Thomas

Your average velomobile kit @ €2500 is value for money, try one first before wasting any of your money. A lot of experience, engineering and skill goes into this high end recumbent.

“It's unwise to pay too much, but it's worse to pay too little. When you pay too much, you lose a little money - that's all. When you pay too little, you sometimes lose everything, because the thing you bought was incapable of doing the thing it was bought to do. The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot - it can't be done. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.” ~ John Ruskin ~

I'd say "a qualified yes", if you're good at dumpster diving and raiding scrap yards, and what tools you already have.

You'll need to scrounge together the parts to make your own three-wheeled recumbent bike, and then build your own fairing.
