What I like: rugged yet elegant, slightly useful
What I don't like: things that break
I absolutely can't have: antimatter (allergies)
Type of thing I'd love to receive: blast-proof rubber gauntlets, USB icecream machine, dot-matrix waffle press, Igor.

hey! so sorry it took so long to reply! your examples look amazing, we are so excited! (and a little indecisive; you are so multi-talented ;p) The chainmail looks great, we're a brother-sister team, and brother isn't one for wearing jewelry but would love to see it. One of your cuffs would make the best charm-bracelet ever. If you have time, that would be ace (no chunkier than the 'medium' one is a good size). Unless you'd like to have a go at making a small sonobesque structure out of chainmail (or maybe that can be a rhetorical challenge for a future project?) Looking forward to hearing from you! I hope our recipient will be as pleased. best of luck with your instructables too!
Sure, I can make a chainmail bracelet. I can make either the stretch version, or a fully metal one with a clasp. I prefer to make the stretch as it is more clean looking. As for the chainmail structure? I wouldn't even know how to begin. >_< In fact, it makes my head hurt just thinking about. Just let me know what size wrist to make it for. Also, I'm actually out camping with my scout troop, so ay response might take a while.
Oh, are those rows of tiny rubber bands in the photo?? Hey that's clever. Stretch is fine, I like the look of the black/silver/blue as they're neutral and show off the craftsmanship nicely. Wrist is 17cm around; a bit of room is good as long as it doesn't fall of ;p I learned some simple chain structures in jewellery.. the idea will probably haunt me haha. Well, if you come up with some brain-bending solution, we'd LOVE to see an instructable! Have a wonderful time camping!!
In that photo of the black/blue/silver one, the black rings are rubber, and the blue and silver are aluminum. That one is about 3.75cm wide, I can make it in any odd multiple of rings, and it's about .5cm per ring. Let me know what would work best for you, and I'll start work on it sometime next week, when I'm home.
3.75 is great. i like how the black rubber rings make the aluminium stand out.. anodised yes? i can never decide on colour; i'm an artist and usually go for neutrals if i think about it too hard, so i'll leave that to you :)
Yes, it is anodized. I'll check what colors I have when I get home, and if I think I have a better color choice than those, to be neutral, I'll go ahead and use them. Now, I do know that the black rubber rings tend to leave marks on things, while other colors do not. If this might be a problem, let me know, I can get a different material, I believe, that shouldn't leave marks
oh interesting. it would be good to not leave marks. (don't worry too much about the neutral thing, i'm excited to be taking part in the first place :D )
