First person vs. Third person

I want to know what you, the members of instructables, think is better.

I presume you mean when writing an Instructable?

My answer is; it depends.

If the result is very variable, and the method or materials flexible, I would go with the first person - this is what I did, you can try your own version. First person example.

If the project's success depends on following the instructions closely - if you do this, this and this, then this cool thing will happen. Third person example.
