No. If people like you spend all the effort that you put into asking people for followers/subscribers/whatever into your post quality, you will eventually end up with more people than you would if you asked.
"I need some followers" Dude, I think you need to at least claim to perform miracles before you start having followers. Can you turn water into vodka, maybe? Or generate an endless supply of Goldfish(TM) crackers?
Why worry? The sort of folks who would follow you on Twitter obviously don't have an attention span long enough to even read these comments, let along think about them :-/ You'll be fine :-)
